FROM FIELD VIEW
SENIOR RESEARCH PROJECT + THESIS COLLECTION BY LILY TURNER
ABOUT
From Field to Fashion: A Journey in Sustainable Design and Regional Understanding is the Senior Honors Project of Lily Turner (she/her), Class of 2024. Through a combination of academic research into the past and present of the fashion industry and the creative conception of a six-look capsule collection titled From Field View, this work paints a picture of the possibilities for sustainable clothing production in the Upper Midwest. With an emphasis on local fiber, local labor, recycling, and supply chain tracing, Turner aims to show how designing within a circular, soil to soil philosophy is imperative to protecting our environment and uplifting local communities.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CLOTHING COMES FROM?
From Field View is a soil-to-soil, seasonless capsule collection that incorporates biomimicry and interrogates the concept of place by referencing the Midwest’s flora, wool, and linen fibers. A supply chain trace was completed for all textiles and materials used, with a focus on sourcing local fiber and secondhand or scrap fabrics.
